DistributionThe species has been recorded from the east coast of England between Spurn Head (South-east Yorkshire) and Walberswick (East Suffolk), all since 1966.
Habitat and ecology
Sand dunes. B. maritimum occurs among young marram, at the seaward edge of 'yellow dunes', and along the upper driftline. Adults of both sexes have been found from May to July.
Status
Occurring in six 10-km squares since 1992, though fairly widespread within its limited range.
Threats
Damage to dune systems due to trampling and recreational sports are likely to be the most pressing threats, though beach 'tidying' might also be detrimental.
Management and conservation
Prevent excessive damage to dune systems resulting from unrestricted public access to these fragile ecosystems
